A Thoughtful Approach to Therapy, Rooted in Connection
At B’well Counseling Services, we believe therapy works best when you feel genuinely seen, heard, and supported. Our Towson-based private group practice was built around the idea that healing grows through meaningful relationships and thoughtful care that can be sustained over time.
You may be here because something in your life feels stuck or out of alignment, even if everything looks fine on the outside. You might be navigating a major transition, feeling the strain of a complicated relationship, or carrying the weight of anxiety, burnout, or uncertainty on your own. Our role is to meet you where you are and walk alongside you as you make sense of what comes next.

A Practice Built Around Thoughtful, Intentional Care
Our therapists work at an intentional pace so they can be present, attentive, and genuinely engaged in the work. This creates space for trust to build, for context to matter, and for change to unfold in a way that feels steady and supportive over time.
We are a sexuality- and gender-affirming practice, committed to offering care that is respectful, grounded, and responsive to the lived experiences, identities, and systems that shape people’s lives. We recognize the real impacts of racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, and other systems of oppression, and we hold space for how these forces shape people’s mental health and daily lives.
How We Support Our Clients
As a local group practice serving Towson and the Greater Baltimore area, we are intentional about how care is offered and how relationships are built.
In our work together, you can expect:
-
Care that remains present and attentive, supported by intentional caseloads
-
Time and space to explore your story within the context of your relationships and lived experience
-
A therapeutic process grounded in curiosity, humility, and collaboration
-
Thoughtful matching that considers your needs, goals, and the kind of support you are seeking

We believe people don’t need to be fixed. Therapy offers space to better understand yourself, build capacity, and strengthen the relationships that matter most.
Is B’well Counseling Services right for you?
We tend to be a strong fit if you:
-
Want a therapist who takes the time to know your full story, not just your symptoms
-
Are looking for a private-pay practice so you and your therapist – not an insurance company – decide the pace and focus of care
-
Value identity-affirming, systems-aware care (LGBTQ+, racial identity, family systems, etc.)
-
Are ready to invest in longer-term, relationship-centered work rather than a quick-fix model
-
Want to collaborate with your therapist to determine the best path forward…not be told what to do by your insurance company.
We may not be the right fit if:
-
Your primary goal is finding an in-network insurance provider or the lowest-cost therapy option
-
You are looking for "therapy on demand"
While each therapist brings their own perspective and training, our work is guided by shared values:
-
Everyone deserves to be seen and heard
-
Healing can include both laughter and tears
-
Curiosity is more useful than criticism
-
Capacity can be cultivated over time
-
Rest is essential, not optional
-
Relationships are a powerful vehicle for growth
-
All parts of ourselves are trying to work for us
These beliefs shape how we show up in the room and how we partner with clients over time.
The Principles Behind Our Approach
Why We Choose to Be a Private-Pay Practice:
Insurance reimbursement rates necessitate unwieldy caseloads in order for therapists to make sustainable incomes. We’ve decided as a practice that our values are more aligned with smaller caseloads so that we can get to know our clients on a deeper level. Our approach to therapy is aligned with a de-pathologizing framework that centers human experience and relationships over a medical framework of symptoms and disorders. Being out-of-network allows us to practice in alignment with our values and training. It also means that:
-
Your care isn't dictated by insurance requirements for session type, length, or frequency.
-
A diagnosis isn't required simply for insurance reimbursement.
-
You and your therapist decide the frequency, length, and focus of the treatment together.
-
Sessions are guided by your goals rather than insurance limitations.
-
Our clinicians maintain intentionally smaller caseloads so they can provide thoughtful, personalized care.
