Accepting New Clients
(Scheduling 2 weeks out as of April '26)
Jake helps individuals, couples, and parents move from surviving to thriving. His approach can best be described as feminist-existential--seeking answers to life's biggest questions from a critical and liberation based perspective. In the course of working together it’s not uncommon to laugh, cry, get angry, and feel the urge to tear down the problematic systems that hold people back.

Jake works with couples looking to ramp up their intimate connections and heal from problematic patterns in the past. This includes emotional, physical, and sexual intimacy that may have been lost (or never quite existed) over the course of the relationship. Jake also works with couples recovering from infidelity (in its many forms). Parents of young children will feel especially welcome...bring your own sleep deprivation.
Jake works with adolescents and adults around identity development, LGBTQIA issues, sexual concerns, trauma, romantic and family relationships, and the process of “unlearning” limiting ideologies (e.g., religion, politics, etc). He has a particular interest in supporting parents navigating the challenges of raising young children and anyone wrestling with questions of meaning, mortality, and existential angst.

A fourth generation Baltimore native, Jake is a psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, trainer, and consultant based in Towson, Maryland. After parting with Katie Cashin, LCPC in 2022, he worked to grow B'well Counseling into the 'collection of experts' you see today. Firmly rooted in the values of 'place', 'people', and 'connection', Jake took a practice with an already sterling reputation to the next level.

Jake provides continuing education and general trainings for therapists, businesses, and institutions on topics including trauma, relationships, sexuality, and general mental health topics. His teaching blends research, clinical experience, and practical application. He also provides his own dad jokes.

As a private practice consultant, Jake works with therapists and group practices to improve clinical quality, streamline operations, and support sustainable growth. He is known for blending ethical clinical foundations with effective business strategies.

Jake is an approved clinical supervisor for Licensed Graduate Professional Counselors in Maryland and also provides clinical consultation to mental health professionals and organizations. He focuses on therapist clinical and professional development through a critical lens while emphasizing a high standard of ethical practice.

Jake's love for the practice of psychotherapy persists still--he's motivated by witnessing the real changes his clients make in their relationships, their families, and their lives. He continues to advance his craft through training in sex therapy, couples therapy, and trauma work. He is actively involved in the Society for the Advancement of Psychotherapy (DIV 29 APA), having served as chair of the professional practice committee in 2022.
