Nia builds a unique and non-judgemental relationship with each client. Nia is known to be down-to-earth, respectful, intuitive and communicative. She operates under the belief that the deepest work is done when trust, authenticity and transparency are a part of the therapeutic alliance. Nia cares about how you feel in therapy and does her due diligence in making sure counseling is effective, safe, and serving.

 

She works holistically, passionately, curiously, and empathetically. She prioritizes understanding her clients and helping them get what they desire and need. Nia is BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and neurodivergent affirming and empowering. She guides exploration and discernment in the processes of growth, change, and loss with special attunement to your identity, your nervous system, and your values. Nia utilizes a mixture of Polyvagal Theory (nervous system), Internal Family Systems (IFS or parts work) and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) as she does trauma-conscious and values-aligned work with folks.

Nia's Experience & Background

Nia earned a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Towson University. Her experience includes abroad studies, community mental health, nonprofit organizations, and working with neurodiverse kids and adults. She is involved in research surrounding the influence and role of gendered-racial ethnic socialization in Black women's lives. Nia is also a dancer, previous dance instructor, and finds trauma-conscious connection to the body to be a powerful tool.
